I was watching them since the first episode aired on HBO in '89. A show like theirs can confuse or warp a kid of eleven. I know they were only a comedy troupe, but I also know that I am a funnier (from just watching and studying them), more open-minded and tolerant person because of them. I can't thank them enough for all of that.
By looking serious and carrying a clipboard, my friend and I were able to get backstage after the great Kids In The Hall show at Nokia Theatre last year. Mark McKinney came out first, apologetic and assuring us the rest were on their way.
I spent most of my time talking with Dave and he couldn't have been more gracious. Being a huge NewsRadio fan as well, this was a big deal for me. Besides the laughs, I had a whole new reason to thank them all over again. |
